Media Alert: Maryland State Board of Education to Meet on Tuesday, September 22

The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 22, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 8:30 a.m. 

Items on the agenda include the following: 

 

9:15 a.m.         Principals of the Year
The State Board will recognize the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) honorees: Principal of the Year at the Middle and High School Levels, as well as the MASSP Assistant Principal of the Year.  The Board also will recognize the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals honorees for Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year.


10:10 a.m.       Teacher and Principal Evaluation
The State Board will hear a report on the progress being made in the implementation of educator evaluation systems throughout the State.  The Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center at WestEd, which has been reviewing implementation, will present information and recommendations gathered and compiled this past Spring.


11:20 a.m.       State Assessments
The State Board will hear a report on the performance level setting process involved with the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exams.
