Media Alert: Maryland State Board Of Education To Meet On Tuesday, July 26

The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 26, at the Maryland State Department of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore. It will be held in the State Board room on the 7th floor beginning at 9 a.m. 

Items on this month’s agenda include the following: 

9:30 a.m.         Election of New Board Officers
The State Board will elect a Board President and Vice President to preside over meetings for the next year.

9:45 a.m.       Student Assessments
The State Board will discuss the final report of the Commission to Review Maryland’s Use of Assessments and Testing in the Public Schools, released earlier this summer.

10:30 a.m.       Mental/Social Health
Board members will hear reports on two mental and social health issues impacting Maryland students: suicide prevention and human trafficking awareness.

1:30 p.m.         Charter Schools
The State Board is scheduled to act on eligibility standards and criteria developed by MSDE staff in response to revisions to the Maryland Charter School approved by the General Assembly.
